Traditional, Vibrant, and Tasteful

25 Islamic, 10 Impressionist, 4 Ukiyo-e, -18 Cubist, -21 Abstract and 10 Renaissance!

Islamic art is developed from many sources: Roman, Early Christian, and Byzantine styles were taken over in early Islamic architecture; the architecture and decorative art of pre-Islamic Persia was of paramount significance; Central Asian styles were brought in with various nomadic incursions; and Chinese influences . Islamic art uses many geometical floral or vegetable designs in a repetitive pattern known as arabesque. It is used to symbolize the transcendent, indivisible and infinite nature of Allah.

People that like Islamic art tend to be more traditional people that appreciate keeping patterns that they learned and experienced from their past. It is not to say that they are not innovative personalities, they just do not like to let go of their roots. They like to put new ideas into details and make certain that they will work before sharing them with others. Failure is not something they like to think about because they are more interested in being successful and appreciated for their intelligence. These people can also be or like elaborate things in their life as long as they are tasteful. They tend to prefer geometric patterns and vibrant colors.

I May Be Insane...

... but I really want to get a cutting, you know, where the artist peels away layers of your skin in a design. It would take a lot longer to heal than a tattoo, but leave a (gorgeous in my opinion) scar.
I would get a small one (an angel smaller than an inch) first to see if I could handle it. Then I have grand plans if it works out for my left back and shoulder.
Unfortunately I wouldn't get it done in Kansas or any of the Midwest states. I just don't trust the tattoo parlors around here and I realize I'm being unreasonable. The possibilities are California and Louisiana. Maybe Philadelphia. Google, however, isn't finding anything. Is it illegal in the US? Cuz Germany has at least 5 studios that offer cuttings in their descriptions.
Anyways, I just had to get that off my chest.

X-Men 4

I just saw X-3 and it would be a travesty if an X-4 is never made. Here are just some suggestions for the next movie:

1. Nightcrawler!!!!!! Alan Cummings still has 2? more movies on his contract with Fox, let this be one of them.

2. Wolverine. Enough Said.

3. Gambit needs to be introduced. I suggest Josh Holloway.

4. Rogue needs to find her full powers!!!

...If anyone has any more suggestions...

You Are 40% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too damn weird to do anything about it!

(I personally think that number is a little low.)

What Your Underwear Says About You

It's important that your underwear doesn't offend anyone - in case you get in a car accident.

You're comfortable in your own skin - and don't care to impress anyone.

he he

Your Stripper Song Is

I Touch Myself by The Divinyls

"I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
I touch myself"

A total exhibitionist, you probably already are a stripper!

Okay, I'm in that frame of mind.

You Are a Chocolate Martini

You're an elegant drunk, who only likes the best bars and the most expensive drinks.
A bit of a cheapskate, you're likely to mooch ten dollar drinks off both friends and strangers.

You should never: Drink and dash. You're gonna get caught leaving someone with the tab!

Your ideal party: A posh celebrity party you crash, with an open bar.

Your drinking soulmates: those with a Classic Martini personality

Your drinking rivals: those with a Blueberry Martini personality

If you can't tell, I live in a college town and have college friends.

You Are Midnight

You are more than a little eccentric, and you're apt to keep very unusual habits.
Whether you're a nightowl, living in a commune, or taking a vow of silence - you like to experiment with your lifestyle.
Expressing your individuality is important to you, and you often lie awake in bed thinking about the world and your place in it.
You enjoy staying home, but that doesn't mean you're a hermit. You also appreciate quality time with family and close friends.

Getting better. This isn't about sex or drinking.

Your Life Path Number is 9

Your purpose in life is to make the world better

You are very socially conscious and a total idealist.
You think there are many things wrong with the world, and you want to fix them.
You have a big idea of how to world could be, and you'll sacrifice almost anything to work towards this dream.

In love, you can easily see the beauty in someone else. And you never cling too tightly.

You are capable of great love, but it's hard for you to focus your love on one person or relationship.
You have a lot of outward focus, and you tend to blame the world for your failures.
You are often disappointed by the realities of life - it's hard for you to accept the shortcomings of the world.

I do like pimping myself.

You Are 40% Abnormal

You are at medium risk for being a psychopath. It is somewhat likely that you have no soul.

You are at medium risk for having a borderline personality. It is somewhat likely that you are a chaotic mess.

You are at low risk for having a narcissistic personality. It is unlikely that you are in love with your own reflection.

You are at high risk for having a social phobia. It is very likely that you feel most comfortable in your mom's basement.

You are at low risk for obsessive compulsive disorder. It is unlikely that you are addicted to hand sanitizer.

You Should Weigh 170

If you weigh less than this, you either have a fast metabolism or are about to gain weight.
If you weigh more than this, you may be losing a few pounds soon!

Wow. That is only about 5lbs off. Otherwise I wouldn't have put it here.

Alright, no more!

We are finally moved! Two weeks ago my grandparents and I were packing. Since Monday, we have transfered almost all the stuff they are keeping to thier permanent residence. We used a 24 ft U-haul (the 14 footer they originally planned on wouldn't have cut it at all) and attached the pontoon to the back of the pick-up. Less than halfway here, we stopped to get gas. As Grandma and I were coming out of the parking lot, we noticed the break light was on in the U-haul. It turns out there are two seperate lights, one for the parking break and one for the regular breaks. The regular breaks were what pooped out on us. Grandpa switched with Grandma and we followed her for a half and hour, looking for a truck stop. Suddenly Grandma pulled over to the shoulder. We couldn't really stop, so we pulled over but kept inching closer and closer. Grandma then signaled to go left (we were still on the shoulder) and then turned into this auto repair shop that also rented out U-hauls. Finally we knew what she was thinking!! It was a great idea, the owner was really nice, and we were out the door in an hour. No more problems the rest of the way!
We just got done unpacking the U-haul and 1/2 of thier two car garage is full. But we won't have to switch out the fridge until after Easter, so no worries. As per tradition, we are going back up this weekend.
Oh, and if I can pimp some realestate agents: Gena and Mike Minxner(?) up in Nisswa are awsome. My grandparents love them, and they brought us pizza.

Psychology Review Questions 5

1. Rods are photoreceptor cells that supply only black and white vision and are more sensitive to dim light (explains why it’s hard to recognize color at night and around dusk). Cones are the other type of photoreceptor cells that supply to our consciousness color and fine details. These are most effective in bright light.
2. The frequency theory explains climbing pitch as a climbing number of vibrations per second, translated into nerve impulses. Place theory, however, doesn’t discount frequency but instead describes the structure in the ear that is affected: high tones at the bottom of the cochlea and lower tones on its narrow outer tip.
3. Many tiny nerve endings are scattered through our epidermal layers and messages can be carried from them by large nerve fibers from specific areas causing “warning pain,” sharp and fast. Small nerve fibers alert us to “slower, nagging, aching, widespread, and very unpleasant” pain.
4. Size consistency is the knowledge that the object is smaller or larger than it appears because of distance from the retina. May be based on prior experience. In shape consistency, prior knowledge again plays a part. Knowledge of the shape of the object is different from the shape that the retina “sees.” Brightness consistency is when the object reflects a larger or smaller proportion of light if available light amount changes.
5. Pictorial depth cues are all monocular and seem to describe all the traits of Realism. Linear perspective, Relative size, and Height are all tricks used to mimic what we see when we look around us. One muscular depth cue is monocular also: When the lens bends to focus on objects (looking around). Convergence is a biocular cue where the retinas turn more towards the nose the closer the object is and approach parallel when the object is farther away.

Psychology Review Questions 4

1. Erikson’s Stage 6 corresponds to Gould’s Stage 3, especially the part where the 20s are a stage when people seek intimacy. Gould’s Stages 4 and 5 are similar to Erikson’s Stage 7, when one ponders the value of his or her life. Erikson doesn’t seem to comment on how that effects one’s personal relationships (like the midlife crisis), though. In Erikson’s 8th Stage and Gould’s Stages 6 and 7, there is an emphasis on impending death. It’s different for everybody, but Gould tends to be optimistic about the elderly’s perspective on the life they have lived, while Erikson looks for an opposite, but equally possible reaction.
2. Kohlberg’s Six Stages of Moral Development Avoiding punishment: How bad will I be hurt? Self Interest: Give-and-take (everything has a price) Avoiding other’s disapproval: How will people see me if I do that? Authority orientation: Following the law because it is the law. Social Contract: For the good of the community is our motto. Self-chosen ethical principles: What you think is right, or worth the price.
3. Kubler-Ross’ Death Denial and Isolation—hanging on to the theory that the results or evidence have a fallacy Anger—Why me? Bargaining—trying to “buy time” from God Depression—knowledge that death is coming whether one likes it or not Acceptance—death is coming, but it isn’t here yet
4. In the 1st year of life, developing trust will help form relationships and friendships later in life, while mistrust will make it hard for the kid to keep friends. From 1 to 3 years old, autonomy fostered by encouragement to try new skills wars with shame and doubt caused by ridicule or overprotection. Three to 5 year olds find initiative caused by play, inquiries, and imagination; or guilt when those childhood dreams seem not to matter. Children in primary school discover industry (praise for productivity will beget future productivity) vs. inferiority (where the child is too messy, childish, a pain). Adolescence introduces identity of oneself vs. role confusion (defined by clicks or people around them). In young adulthood, intimacy—or comfort from people outside oneself—battles isolation, or floating alone in a sea of impossible connections. Middle adulthood has generativity (an interest in guiding the next generation) vs. stagnation (with a focus on one’s own needs and comforts). During late adulthood integrity of a person satisfied with one’s life is in contrast with despair over too many regrets.
5. Life stages are important enough concepts. They recognize the correlations between certain ages and certain possible behaviors. This makes it easier to target a select age group in advertising, and helps us understand ourselves as we look back and wonder what the hell we were thinking back then.

Thank You.
Here I am in beautiful Nisswa, Minnesota helping my grandparents pack up their summer cabin in anticipation of their world tour (well, at least Alaska, after that who knows?). They just sold it for a good chunk of change and the buyers want them cleared out by April 17. They have 30 years worth of stuff to consolidate and pack, not to mention the big furniture and pontoon. Still, I feel worthless. Other than helping move the big stuff, a lot of it is sorting and deciding what they want to sell and keep. Meanwhile, I'm taking 6 credit hours of online classes though DCCC and I feel like I spend all my time bumbling about on them.
